John Cathcart ...was he RCMP?

Hi Joe

While I was working in the Vancouver City Police I was partnered with a "John Cathcart". Several years later he passed on.

He claimed to have been an RCMP member in Calgary for a short time (quite a temper - might have been let go)?

I was a friend of his and delivered the eulogy at his funeral. His remains were taken back to Ireland, to a small town called Fintona, in Amargh.

I can't seem to find his name on your database. Is there any way for you to check whether or not he was a member. Probably a little bit after l965 I would think.

  1. Dear Dave,

Thanks for your note. According to the history files of Vet. Jack White, your pal is likely Reg.# 29045, William John Cathcart.

Cathcart joined the Force on May 25, 1971 then served in 'K' Div. He left the Force on April 15, 1972, but there is no further indication of his whereabouts.

He well may have joined the VCP.

    Yours truly,

    Joe

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your note. Please be assured that I will reply, but some e-mails require a little more research and time or reflection. If your comment hinges on policy for graves, the e-mail may have to be referred to the RCMP for an authoritative response.
