In Memory of Reg.# 21512, Cst. A. Lepine

In Memory of Reg.# 21512,
Cst. Achille 'Archie' Lepine
Honour Roll # 119

'Friends Not Forgotten'

Cst. Lepine joined the Force in 1960. After basic training at 'Depot' Div., he was transferred to 'E' Div. and he was first posted to Pattullo Bridge Detachment.

Throughout the late 1950's and the 1960's, the RCMP maintained a small Detachment of police cars and motorcycles at Pattullo Bridge. The principle job of the Pattullo Bridge Detachment members was to help regulate traffic over the narrow, four lane Bridge which connects New Westminister, BC to Whalley, BC which is at the northern tip Surrey Detachment's patrol area.

On July 15, 1962 Cst. Lepine was on motorcycle patrol near Patullo Bridge. It was dark. A motorist turned his car into Cst. Lepine's lane of traffic and he hit the car. It was established that the car driver did not see Cst. Lepine on his Harley nor did Cst. Lepine expect or see the car turing into his direction. Cst. Lepine died a few days after the accident.

Cst. Lepine is buried in Prince Albert, SK.
