This note was received from applicant Eric Nicholson. Eric is also an avid collector of RCMP memorabilia. He asks us for Canada wide help. Young people too have mysteries to solve.
Hi Joe,
I was wondering if you would be able to help me? I am researching a forage cap dated 1950 marked with the Reg.#12263. I found out the number belongs to Ernest Wilson Roberts.
I tried to access Roberts' Service File from the RCMP under a Freedom of Information request, but I was told that his Service File was destroyed.
Next, I contacted the RCMP Museum. I was told that Mr. Ernest Roberts was the father of Reg.#27919 Herbert Bourgaize Roberts who died on May 22, 1988. Apparently, Herbert also had a brother, retired Superintendent Reg.#12135, Gordon Clement Roberts.
I would really like to track down a family member to see if anyone has a photo of Ernest Roberts to put next to the forage hat. I figure if there's any Vets out there that might have known any of the Roberts clan or maybe if the Roberts' had any children then I might be able to find more information and connect it to my forage cap.
Could you could pass this message along or post it up on your website as someone might be able to help me?
Regards Joe and keep up the great work!
Yours truly,
Erik

Request for help: about deceased Edward Whelan, Newfoundland
Dear Buffalo Joe,
My name is Lesa Whelan.
My great-great grandfather was Corporal and Chief of Police Edward Whelan in Placentia, Newfoundland in the early 1900's. Later, he transferred to St. John's and was appointed the Assistant/Chief of Police.
I have been unable to find any information on him which I find so upsetting. His father's name was James Whelan and his grandson was Reg.#22622 Sgt. William Edward 'Ted' Whelan who passed away on PEI last December.
I would love to find some information on Edward Whelan. Can you or any of your Buffalo friends help me? He is buried in Kilbride Cemetery but unfortunately he has no special headstone -- it just says 'Whelan'.
Thanks so much for any help which you might be able to offer.
Yours truly,
Ms Lesa Mulrooney-Duke

Graves in Prince Albert, SK area
Hi Joe,
I belong to the Prince Albert Branch, SK Genealogical Society and I am currently researching the NWMP & RCMP graves in the Prince Albert area.
I have put the data I am gathering in Microsoft Excel --is it possible to forward it directly to you? I
I will also take photos of the graves and send them on to you.
By the way, I think your web site is great - an extremely important project.

Help Offered: RCMP Graves Program
Dear Joe,
I'm glad that you liked those pics of Sergeant Major Bray. My friends Len and Deb were real happy to go get them for your website.
I always found his gravesite to be one of interest to me as I found it when I was pretty young kid. If I ever make my way back to Medicine Hat, I will be taking my camera as I know there are several more members old graves listed and I'm sure you do not have photos yet. Its a matter of being able to find them again in the older sections of the "new cemetery" in the 'Hat'.
Thanks again for putting together such a great website....it really is awesome.
If there is anything I can do to help, please feel free to ask.
Regards.
