I did not see J.J. Hogan’s name for 'B" Div but I checked it under name search and found it. I believe he is buried in NL but exactly where I do not know but I will find out. He spent all his service in “B” Div.
J. J. Hogan had a very interesting career in the Newfoundland Rangers. During the war he and a member of the USAAF parachuted out of a airplane that was supposed to be on fire over the Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland during the winter months in 1943. Turns out it was a false alarm! The plane kept on going miuns the passengers!
Hogan lived for over 50 days in an old cabin they had found. He kept the other man alive (he had a broken leg) until some woodsman came upon them in the spring.
There is a book written about this incident called “Jump Ranger Jump”. Hogan joined the RCMP when Newfoundland was absorbed by Canada. When he retired from the Force, he joined the National Harbours Police to police the St. John’s Harbour.
Sadly, three days after he retired from the National Harbours Police he died of a heart attack.
John Joseph Hogan's Regimental Numbers are RCMP Reg.#16167 and Newfoundland Ranger Reg.#79.
