'Friends Not Forgotten'

It was the sad duty of RCMP Commissioner R. W. Paulson to announce that Reg.#55042, Cst. D. W. H. Pineo died on July 20, 2012 near Wilkie, Saskatchewan when the police cruiser he was driving hit a moose.

Cst. Pineo died at the scene.

Constable Pineo joined the Force on 20/08/2007. He was serving at Wilkie Detachment.

At the time of the accident, Cst. Pineo was attending to a complaint of mischief and he was also on the lookout for a reported impaired driver.

He was alone in the police cruiser at the time of the accident.

It is true that every member of the Force sincerely regrets to hear the news whenever a member of the Force is killed. In part, an accident such as the one which involved Constable Pineo brings forward the dangerous and unexpected nature of events in police work.
