In Memory of Reg.#2178, Constable Ernest Peyton

In Memory of Reg.#2178, Constable Ernest Peyton
A Very Special Constable
'Friends Not Forgotten'

Constable Ernest Peyton joined the North West Mounted Police (NWMP) at Toronto, ON in June 1888 without any idea or hint what ill was about to befall him.

For, Constable Peyton suddenly 'Died While Serving' (DWS) at 'Depot' only three months after he joined. Researcher and Historian Jack White reports that Constable Peyton died on September 25, 1888 of a ruptered appendix. Reports say he was 22 years of age.

Constable Peyton is buried at 'Depot'.

The reason for him being a Very Special Constable?  Constable Peyton was the first Newfoundlander to join the Force!

And, that's the reason he's considered Special, Very Special!
