'Ms J'
A Very, Very Special Burnaby Friend Not Forgotten
Now retired, Ms Jackson keeps in close contact with members of Burnaby Detachment. In fact, it's also well known that members on patrol will stop in at Ms Jackson's home to be assured that she is safe and secure.
Ms Jackson was Assistant to the NCO i/c Traffic, Sgt. Henry Klick, when I arrived at Burnaby Detachment in 1965. She has an extremely keen mind and a wonderul recollection of former members posted to the Detachment. She also has a colorful collection of photos of 'ole' timers that dates back to the 1950's and the early days of Burnaby Detachment.
From memory, here's a partial list of members who served in Burnaby Traffic about the time that I was posted there; Ben Duncan, Lyle Nurse, Bruce Boudreau, Leo Langois, Dan Hickey, Bob Bernstein, Ed Sellner, Ted Jones, Bill Haycock, Cpl. Gerry Griffin, Dale Featherstone, Don Arndt, Ray Keilan, Cpl. Van Casile and Grant Ward.
In recent weeks, I received a wonderful, newsy and memorable letter from Mrs. J. in which she brought me up to date on her life, health plus all her activities after retirment from Burnaby Detachment. She recalled many of the NCO's under which she served in Burnaby Traffic including my 'ole' friend, now retired, Reg.#15409, S/Sgt. Mert Rowden.
It's no secret today, and although Ms J didn't outright admit it, she led me to believe that I was her most favorite member from among all the thousands of members who ever passed though Burnaby Detachment over the years! Thank you, Ms. J.
All my love and affection in these sweet days of your retirement. You are a warm and loyal friend to me and to the Force.
