Memorial Service for O.560 Robert S. Wood
This note was received from 'E' Div. Vet
and Ceremonial Guard Command Dan Lemieux.
and Ceremonial Guard Command Dan Lemieux.
This photo is of the Table of Remembrance. It is 'E' Div custom to always have two serving members stand beside the table, in this case, Jack Robinson and Warren Tomalty. The remainder of the Guard stands facing the congregation.
Once settled, a 3 minute protocol (playing of Last Post and Reveille) takes place inside the church. I salute during Reveille as the Guard Coordinator. Then the Vets march out and line up at the exit of the church. A 'salute' is given to the family -- it provides comfort and support to them.
It might be interesting to note Joe, that 'E' Div have four Honour Guard Teams and 6 Guard Commanders ( 2 are Commanders at Large in case someone is away).
All six teams are fully equipped with Stetson, Shabrack, CD and Boombox. A written protocol for the Service ensure consistency. Bob Woods' Service was the 83rd since 2004.

Chief Superintendent Robert Stanley Wood joined the Force in 1947. By this time, he had already served in WWII with the Canadian Army and the RCAF.
R. S. 'Bob' Wood served in 'A', 'O' & 'F'. He received his Commission in 1964, then went on to serve in 'HQ', 'M' & 'E'. In 1977, he retired as Assistant DCI Federal Ops.
This note from Vet Dan Lemieux, one of Bob's friends, was received today (Monday, 3 Sept 2012) 'Joe; There was a great turnout for Bob's service. His son Insp. Bob Wood is also in the Force making him third generation RCMP as his grandfather and his father were also in the Force. In 1947, Bob Wood trained in 'F' Troop, I was in 'G' and Terry Farr was in 'H' Troop. Terry and I ended up in 'F' Division. We go back a long way. Terry passed away three years ago...but his wife Esther was at Bob's funeral.'
'Bob' Wood died in Langley, BC on August 6, 2012
The photo was taken at Bob's Memorial Service, you will know many of them.
