In Memory of Reg.#288, Samuel James Donaldson

In Memory of Reg.#288, NWMP Samuel James Donaldson

'Friends Not Forgotten'

In a recent message, Regina Vet. Ron Smith said this of S.J. Donaldson:

'Some of our early NWMP members went on to contribute so much to the settlement of the west after they had left the Force. Samuel Donaldson was one such member.

Donaldson was so successful in recruiting for WWI that Mr. Sam Hughes, the Minister of War used Donaldson's recruiting style while successfully promoting recruits in Ontario and as well as in other parts of Canada.

The battle flag of the 188th Battalion and Donaldson's desk when he was an M.L.A. are on display at the Prince Albert Historical Museum., Prince Albert, SK.'

A photo of S. J. Donaldson and some additional history can be found on the database under Reg.#288.
